Quilts of Valor workdays will be held every 5th Monday at Village Quilting in Bella Vista AR (beginning at 9:30 am), under the direction of Donna Roche.

Kits are provided, and you could possibly learn a new skill -- or just practice the skills you have already achieved!  There's always fun & fellowship (& food!) along with this worthwhile project.

Quilts of valor is a nation-wide effort to make patriotic quilts for our valiant servicemen , particularly those that have been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Members of the guild support this program by making 12 1/2 in. quilt blocks, (Red, white, and blue) patriotic quilt tops, pillow cases, and by quilting the quilt tops. Members have also generously contributed funds for postage , as well as donated fabric and batting to support this on-going program. Thus far over 600 quilts have been mailed.

MAKING A QUILT OF VALOR
Quilts of Valor must be 50" x 70" and incorporate any kind of patriotic fabric.  You may finish quilt it or give the pieced top to the guild and have them quilt it.  Piecing may be done in any way you wish, according to your own artistic process.  If you wish, you may donate 12 1/2 inch blocks in patriotic fabrics and members will finish the quilt for you.

Donna Roche received the following letter from a military medical center in Iraq.

Dear Ms. Donna Roche, On behalf of the 332d Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility (CASF) at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your generous quilt donations. I am confirming that 7 beautiful handmade quilts were delivered to our CASF in Iraq. I can assure you that these beautiful quilts will be used to provide cover & warmth to wounded warriors who transit our facility awaiting transport to their next destination. Your generous gifts provide additional comfort and support to our wounded heroes. Once again, thank you for being so caring and supporting our deployed soldiers who risk their lives every day for our country. We are truly grateful.

Sincerely,
Jerelyn Pedrina, Maj., USAF, NC
332nd CASF Donations Coordinator
