Nearly 500 people attended the Calico Cut-Ups "Spring into Quilting" Quilt Show held April 4-5, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista. Those attending voted for the best quilt in several categories as well as Best of Show. Winners were as follows (from Bella Vista unless noted otherwise): Bed Quilt Appliquéd – Donna Roche, Rogers; Bed Quilt Pieced – Shirley Jacobson; Large Wall Hanging – Nancy Gruenewald; Small Wall Hanging – Genene Bunch; Art Quilt – Karen Kielmeyer; Miniature Quilt – Joyce Reid; Embroidered Quilt – Judy Wilson; Group Quilt – Mary Pumphrey and daughters; First Quilt – Lynda Hutfles; Home Décor – Patsy Graser; Garment – Alice Lundwall; Other Technique – Judy Wilson; and Best of Show – Mary Pumphrey, Bella Vista.

Eighty volunteers from Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild worked at the show, five area quilt stores had booths with quilting goods for sale, and the United Methodist Women served refreshments and lunch. In conjunction with the quilt show, a raffle drawing was held at Village Quilting in Bella Vista on Saturday for a queen-sized stained glass quilt created by members of the guild. The winner was Cherri Oberhelman of Bella Vista.

Funds raised by the raffle quilt and the quilt show are used to fund the work of the guild as well as to support area charities including the Bella Vista Animal Shelter and the Benton County Sunshine School. Calico Cut-Ups Guild meets regularly on the fourth Monday of each month at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista. Visitors are welcome.
