This class will take you back to one of childhood's greatest delights.  You get to bring a brand new box of color crayons to "school."  Go ahead, you're a grown-up.  You can buy any size box you want!  You will use them to color a fun line drawing you create yourself.  Your work will be further textured by coloring over found objects furnished by your teacher.  Details will be added by embroidery stitches commonly used in crazy work.  The look we are after is folky, not Victorian fussy.  Instructions will be given for the stitches if you need them.  Don't worry...they're not hard.  You might want to take this technique home to teach the children in your life.  No sewing machine required.

Skill level: Anyone young at heart

Class supply list:

• 1 yard unbleached muslin PRE-WASHED and ironed.  Cut into 8 squares approximately 10 1/2 by 10 1/2.  You will be trimming them to size later.  Bring the rest of the muslin to experiment on.
• 10 to 12 squares freezer paper cut approximately 9 1/2 x 9 1/2
• Pencil and ruler (your rotary cutting ruler is fine)
• Masking tape 1/2 or 3/4 inch wide
• Crayons (I prefer Crayola but others work as well)
• Medium size embroidery hoop (6" or 7")
• Package of assorted size embroidery needles
• One skein black embroidery thread (I will have some other colors if you wish to borrow)
• A fine line permanent fabric marker
